Police investigate fatal collision in city's northeast

Our Traffic Section continues to investigate after a collision resulted in the death of a woman last week.

On Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, at approximately 5:45 p.m., police responded to reports of a serious-injury collision in the area of 43 Avenue N.E. and Laguna Way N.E.

At that time, it is believed a 2012 Toyota RAV4, driven by a man in his 50s, was travelling southbound on Laguna Way N.E., and turned westbound onto 43 Avenue N.E.

At the same time, a woman in her 60s was crossing the intersection heading north when she was struck by the Toyota.

The Toyota came to a rest a short distance away. The driver remained at the scene and was uninjured.

The woman was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition where she sadly succumbed to her injuries.

Neither speed nor alcohol or drugs are believed to be factors in this collision.

The incident remains under investigation, and anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
