Police investigate fatal altercation in Hounsfield Heights

The Homicide Unit has been called out to investigate a fatal altercation that occurred last night in the community of Hounsfield Heights.

Investigators believe an incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, between two drivers following a near collision in the 2200 block of 12 Avenue N.W. Following the altercation, one man was transported to hospital with minor injuries. A second man was located in the 1500 block of 22A Street N.W., near a vehicle and was declared deceased at the scene.

Investigation into the incident and the cause of death is ongoing. At this time, there is no indication that either driver were known to each other prior to the altercation. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 12, 2022. Further details are not expected to be released until completion of the autopsy, which will determine if the manner of death is criminal in nature.
