Police investigate Cranston shooting

We are continuing to investigate a shooting that occurred earlier this morning in the southeast community of Cranston that left one man critically injured.

Early this morning, at approximately 2:50 a.m., today, Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, police received calls of shots fired in the 400 block of Cranford Park S.E. A short time later, police received an additional call of an injured man who was believed to be suffering from a gunshot wound who had sought help from residents in the 1000 block of Cranston Drive S.E.

Upon arrival, police learned the injured man had driven himself a short distance before crashing his car into a parked vehicle, at which time he sought help. Police helped to administer first aid until the man was transported to hospital in critical condition.

Later today, the victim underwent surgery and currently remains in hospital where he has been upgraded to stable condition.

There are no suspects in custody at this time.

It is believed this is not a random attack.
