Police investigate collision involving scooter

We are currently investigating a collision involving a vehicle and a mobility scooter that took place earlier this week.

On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at approximately 5:50 p.m., a collision occurred in the intersection of 20 Avenue and 34 Street N.E.

At the time, it is believed a 54-year-old man using a mobility scooter was crossing 20 Avenue N.E., in the marked crosswalk. At the same time, a black 2002 Dodge Dakota truck was turning left from 34 Street onto 20 Avenue N.E., and struck the man on the scooter.

The man on the scooter suffered serious, life-altering injuries and was transported to hospital. The driver of the Dodge Dakota, a 23-year-old man, was not injured and remained on scene.

Speed, alcohol, and drugs are not considered to be factors in this collision.
