Police charge two teens in armed robbery of vape store
We have charged two teens who are believed to be responsible for the armed robbery of a vape store in the city’s southwest.
On Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, at approximately 6:40 p.m., two unknown teens entered the One Stop Vape Shop located at 6100 Macleod Trail S.W.
While concealing their identities with medical masks, the suspects threatened the store employee with a gun and subsequently fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and vape products.
An investigation was initiated, and our officers were able to identify one of the suspects. On Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, a search warrant was executed for a residence located in the 200 block of Edgeburn Lane N.W., and a 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with:
· Robbery using a firearm
· Unlawful confinement
· Disguised with intent
· Breach of a firearms prohibition
He will next appear in court on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024.
The investigation into the second suspect continued and on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, an additional search warrant was executed for a residence located in the 200 block of Martindale Boulevard N.E., and a 15-year-old male was arrested and charged with:
· Robbery using a firearm
· Unlawful confinement
· Disguised with intent
· Breach of probation
· Breach of a release order
He will next appear in court on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024.
The teens cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
“These types of armed robberies can be incredibly traumatic for the victims,” says Staff Sgt. Kurt Jacobs of the Calgary Police Service Arson and Robbery Unit. “I want to thank the investigators for their work on this file which led to holding these teens responsible for their actions.”
