Police charge two in drug trafficking operation

The Calgary Police Service has charged two men after a three-month-long investigation into a high-level marijuana trafficking operation.

The investigation started in January 2017, after police learned of a man who allegedly had been supplying drugs to other dealers. Investigators worked to identify the man and executed search warrants at two residences on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. One house was in New Brighton and the other was in Valley Ridge.

As a result of the searches, police seized 10.4 kilograms of marijuana and over $12,500 in cash. The estimated street value of the drugs in $36,000. Two men were arrested without incident.

Tu Chan TRAN, 42, of Calgary, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.

Jeffry Daniel VON DER AHE, 28, of Calgary, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.
