Police charge man with several break and enters in Crescent Heights

We have charged a man after it is believed he broke into several residences in the northeast community of Crescent Heights in July.

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, between the hours of 2 and 7 a.m., it is believed an unknown man broke into various houses, garages, and sheds located in the 200 block of Third Avenue N.E., and the 200 block of Fourth Avenue N.E.

At approximately 7 a.m., a victim called police to report he located an unknown man in his backyard. It was later determined the man had broken into the victim’s garage and stole several items.

Police immediately responded and located the suspect nearby. He was taken into custody and was found to be in possession of several items that were believed to be stolen from various victims.

As the investigation progressed, police returned several of the items to nearby residents, however one victim is still missing various sentimental items that were believed to be taken during the string of break and enters.

The outstanding items include Second World War medals passed on from the victim’s family, a Paralympic medal, an Order of Canada medal, two Queen’s Jubilee medals and an Alberta Sports Hall of Fame golf ring.

We are asking anyone who may have information about the missing items to contact police.

As a result, Melfert Jaaron THREESUNS, 24, of Calgary was charged with:

·       Four counts of break and enter

·       Obstructing a police officer

·       Possession of stolen property under $5,000

·       Five counts of possession of a stolen credit card

·       Two counts of possession of an identity document

·       Possession of methamphetamine

·       Possession of Fentanyl

He will next appear in court on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025.
