Police charge man with indecent acts

The Calgary Police Service has charged a man in connection with multiple indecent acts in south Calgary.

The incidents occurred between Tuesday, March 8, 2016, and Monday, May 9, 2016. In all cases, a man was observed masturbating with his hands either down or on his pants while parked outside of stores in an older model tan Subaru. When the man realized he was being watched, he fled the scenes.

Police were able to identify the suspect and he was arrested without incident on Monday, May 9, 2016, following the final occurrence.

The dates and location of the incidents were:

  • At approximately 4:20 p.m., on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, outside a toy store located at 16061 Macleod Trail S.E.
  • On Saturday, March 12, 2016, outside a book store located at 200 Shawnessy Blvd S.E.
  • On Monday, May 2, 2016, outside a grocery store located at 2335 162 Ave S.W.
  • On Wednesday, May 4, 2016, outside a maternity clothing store located at 303 Shawville Blvd S.E.
  • At approximately 5:30 p.m., on Friday, May 6, 2016, outside a registries office located at 250 Shawville Blvd S.E.
  • At approximately 6 p.m., on Monday, May 9, 2016, outside a dance studio located at 2525 Bridlecrest Way S.W.

Andrew Mitchell DURANT, 28, of Calgary, is charged with six counts of committing an indecent act and six counts of violating a court order. He is appearing in court today.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending.
