Police charge man suspected of exposing himself in south Calgary

The Calgary Police Service has laid charges in connection with a series of indecent acts in Copperfield and Bridlewood, thanks to a tip from the public.

At approximately 9 a.m., on Friday, May 29, 2015, a man was seen masturbating in a green space behind the 200 block of Copperfield Manor S.E.

Then, at approximately 12:45 p.m., on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, it is believed the same man was seen exposing himself to students at Monsignor J.J. O’Brien Elementary and Junior High School, located at 99 Bridlewood Road S.W.

He fled the scene before police arrived.

Investigators were able to identify a suspect after a member of the public recognized the individual from a photo taken by a witness of the indecent acts in Copperfield.

Steffan Edward BOTE, 19, of Calgary, is charged with five counts of committing an indecent act to persons under 16 years of age and two counts of committing an indecent act. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 10, 2015.

The Calgary Police Service would like to thank the public for their help with this investigation.
