Police charge man and woman with more than 20 offences

Throughout the month of September 2024, our officers were made aware of a man and woman who were travelling in stolen vehicles and driving dangerously in and around Calgary on multiple occasions.

Our Auto Theft Team subsequently began an investigation and identified the man as a prolific offender being monitored by our Prolific Offender Engagement Team (POET). He was also believed to be breaching his court-ordered conditions, which prohibited him from driving.

On Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, our officers observed a stolen 2001 Chevrolet Silverado being driven by the man with a woman as the passenger. The vehicle eventually headed east of the city towards Langdon and stopped at a local grocery store.

A short time later, the man and woman were arrested without incident at the Save-On-Foods located at 101 97 Centre St., Langdon, Alta.

Following a search of the vehicle, a small quantity of drugs, a semi-automatic shotgun, two cans of bear spray, a hatchet, a knife and approximately 30 stolen or fraudulent identification documents were seized.

As a result, Michael Andrew ZIELINSKI, 51, of Calgary, was charged with:

·         Two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000

·         Three counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000

·         Two counts of driving while suspended

·         Dangerous driving

·         Possession of break and enter tools

·         Two counts of driving without insurance

·         Possession of a controlled substance

·         Possession of a dangerous weapon

·         Unlawful possession of a firearm

·         Unsafe storage of a firearm in a vehicle

·         Possession of a firearm obtained by crime

·         Unsafe transport of a firearm

·         Breach of a firearms prohibition

·         Breach of a conditional sentence order

He will next appear in court tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 27, 2024.

Brianna Lynne KADATZ, 25, of Calgary, was charged with:

·         Two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000

·         Two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000

·         Breach of recognizance

·         11 outstanding warrants

She will next appear in court tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 27, 2024.
