Police charge man and woman with drug and weapon offences
In July 2024, our officers became aware of a man who was believed to be breaching his court-ordered conditions and was observed conducting activity consistent with drug trafficking throughout the city on several occasions.
Our officers launched an investigation and on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, the man was located and arrested in the parking lot of CF Chinook Centre located at 6455 Macleod Trail S.W.
A woman who was associated to the man was also arrested in the parking lot, and a white 2011 Infiniti FX35, used by the suspects was subsequently searched and the following was seized:
· A loaded Glock 27 .40-calibre handgun
· Seven rounds of .40-calibre ammunition
· Approximately 35 grams of crack cocaine
· Approximately two grams of cocaine
· Four cell phones
As a result, Matiop Nyok OKICH, 29, of Calgary, is charged with:
· Possession of crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
· Possession of a prohibited weapon
· Possession of a firearm in a vehicle
· Unsafe storage of a firearm
· Possession of a loaded, prohibited firearm
· Two counts of breach of a firearm prohibition order
He will next appear in court on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024.
Tsz Kei Amber ZIEGLER, 24, of Calgary is charged with:
· Possession of crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
· Possession of a prohibited weapon
· Possession of a firearm in a vehicle
· Unsafe storage of a firearm
· Possession of a loaded, prohibited firearm
She will next appear in court on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024.
