Pedestrian struck in northeast Calgary
The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section is investigating after a pedestrian was struck in a crosswalk yesterday afternoon, resulting in life-threatening injuries.
Around 3 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, police were called for reports of a collision involving a truck and a pedestrian in the intersection of Red Embers Gate and 128 Avenue N.E.
It is believed a 2023 Dodge Ram truck was proceeding southbound on Red Embers Gate N.E., before attempting to make a right turn onto westbound 128 Avenue N.E. At the same time, a man in his 60s, was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by the truck. The pedestrian suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.
The driver remained at the scene and was not injured during the collision.
Neither alcohol, drugs or excessive speed are believed to be factors in this collision.
