Pedestrian seriously injured in northeast collision

We continue to investigate a collision that occurred at the intersection of 16 Avenue N.E. and Edmonton Trail N.E.

At approximately 4:15 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, we responded to reports of a single vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

At the time of the incident, it is believed a 68-year-old woman was crossing 16 Avenue N.E. when she was struck by a vehicle. Members of our Traffic Section determined the woman was walking southbound through the intersection when a Kenworth construction truck, also heading southbound on Edmonton Trail N.E., turned westbound on 16 Avenue N.E. and collided with the woman.

The woman was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition. The 46-year-old driver and 42-year-old passenger of the truck were uninjured and remained at the scene.

It is not believed alcohol, drugs or excessive speed were factors in this collision.

Our Traffic Section continues to investigate.
