Pedestrian injured in morning collision

On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at approximately 1:25 a.m., a man in his 40s was driving a 2015 Toyota Prius V east on Fifth Avenue S.E. when he drove over a female pedestrian who was lying down in the roadway, east of the Centre Street intersection.

The driver of the Toyota was not hurt and pulled over immediately.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries.  The identity of the pedestrian and the reason for her being in the road are still being investigated.

Speed, alcohol, and drugs are not believed to be factors on the part of the Toyota’s driver.
