Pedestrian dies following collision in southeast industrial area

A man in his 60s has died after being struck by a vehicle at a workplace in the Highfield Industrial Area.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, it is believed a semi-truck with a chassis trailer, operated by a man in his 30s, was backing into a loading dock area at a warehouse in the 1500 block of Hastings Crescent S.E. At the same time, a 69-year-old man walked behind the truck and trailer to prepare a spring-loaded ramp on the loading dock, when he was struck by the backing vehicle. He was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the truck was not injured and remained on scene.
