One person dead in southeast Calgary collision
Our Traffic Section continues to investigate after a man was killed in a single-vehicle collision that occurred this morning in the city’s southeast.
At approximately 7:35 a.m. today, Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a woman in her 30s and containing a male passenger, was travelling southbound on Deerfoot Trail S.E., approaching the interchange with Anderson Road S.E. When the roadway diverged, it is believed the vehicle continued straight and entered the median. The front passenger side of the vehicle struck a light pole, causing the removal of front passenger door.
The passenger, a man in his 30s, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Police are investigating whether speed or impairment were factors in the collision.
