Officer-involved shooting

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred this morning in the southeast community of Red Carpet.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., today, Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025, we were called to the 6200 block of 17 Avenue S.E., for reports of a domestic incident inside a residence involving a person in crisis. Upon police arrival, one man exited the residence and a confrontation occurred, resulting in one officer deploying their TASER and one officer discharging their Service firearm. A knife was recovered from the scene.

Officers immediately provided first aid, however the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No CPS officers or other members of the public were injured.

As is standard practice with any officer-involved shooting, ASIRT has been called in to investigate. No further details are available at this time.
