Officer-involved shooting in Yorkville

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred this afternoon in the southwest community of Yorkville.

At approximately 12:55 p.m., today, Monday, Aug. 18, 2025, we were called to the 300 block of Yorkville Road S.W., for a 911 hang-up call. The call was believed to be connected to a domestic incident involving a weapon occurring inside a residence.

Prior to police arrival, one man fled the residence and was located by officers a short distance away near 194 Avenue and Sheriff King Street S.W. A confrontation occurred, resulting in multiple officers using a variety of use-of-force tools, including one officer discharging their Service firearm.

The suspect was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

One CPS officer was assessed by EMS at the scene and no physical injuries were reported. No members of the public were injured.

As is standard practice with any officer-involved shooting, ASIRT has been called in to investigate. No further details are available at this time.
