Officer-involved shooting - Bridgeland

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating following an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the community of Bridgeland.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., on Monday, April 9, 2018, plainclothes Calgary Police Service members were in the area of 2 Avenue and 6 Street N.E., when a confrontation occurred between an officer and a man who is alleged to have been armed. During the confrontation, a Service firearm was discharged by the officer.

The suspect was deceased at the scene. The officer was uninjured during the confrontation.
