Nomination Day for General Election candidates
Nomination Day for the Oct. 20, 2025 General Election is today, Sept. 22, 2025. To become a candidate, eligible individuals must submit the following by 12 p.m. (noon) today:
- A notice of intent to be nominated (if not previously submitted);
- Form 4 – Nomination Paper and Candidate’s Acceptance;
- Form 5 – Candidate Financial Information;
- Criminal record check; and,
- Deposit of $500 for mayor candidates or $100 for councillor and public or separate school board trustee candidates.
The items above must be filed in person at the Elections Calgary office at 2nd floor, 2340 22 St. N.E., Calgary, AB, T2E 8B7. Drop-in only between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. (noon), no appointments accepted on Sept. 22, 2025.

Nominated candidates will have until 12 p.m. (noon) on Sept. 23, 2025 to withdraw their nomination. The list of nominated (official) candidates will be available in the afternoon of Sept. 23, 2025 at electionscalgary.ca/vote.
Elections Calgary is a division of the City Clerk’s Office responsible for independently and impartially administering the Returning Officer’s accountabilities in General Elections, by-elections and votes of the electors on behalf of The City of Calgary, the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Catholic School District.
