New details being released about 2019 double homicide

Almost two years to the date of a 2019 double homicide, investigators are sharing CCTV footage in an effort to identify a woman who is believed to have information about the murders.

At approximately 2:15 a.m., on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, police were called to the 2400 block of 37 Avenue N.E., for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, police found two men suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. One man was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was severely injured and later died in hospital.

Jasdeep SINGH, 25, and Japneet MALHI, 22, were the victims of the targeted shooting where two suspects waited for them for more than an hour. The suspects drove in a vehicle past the victims, with the suspect in the passenger seat firing multiple rounds at the victims. A woman that was with the victims, in the backseat of the vehicle, when they were shot, was unhurt.

A woman, believed to be around 25-years-old, approximately 5’8” tall, weighing 130 pounds, with long straight black hair, was seen in the area. She was driving a white Ford Escape, 2013 – 2019 model. CCTV and photos of her are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

Investigators have also recovered the murder weapon, a Russian SKS semiautomatic rifle and are hoping to speak to anyone who knows of its origin. It has been determined that the suspects in this case have ties to the Lower Mainland in B.C.

Anyone with information about the identity of the woman or the owner of the rifle is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or the Calgary Police Service Homicide Tip Line at 403-428-8877. They may also call Crime Stoppers anonymously through the following methods:
