Media Availability: Provide feedback in a Snap for 9 Ave SE (Demonstration)

Media are invited to a demonstration of instant street engagement being used to develop a streetscape master plan for 9 Ave. S.E. As part of a suite of engagement activities The City has incorporated a Snapchat snapcode on street stickers along Inglewood’s main street to provide a fun, innovative, and easy way to gather feedback. With a single snap users will be directed to our engagement portal where they can give their feedback instantly.

Rebecca O’Brien, Executive Director, Inglewood BRZ

When: Thurs., April 20 at 2 p.m.

Where: In front of the Inglewood BRZ, 1230 9 Ave. S.E.

Background

As part of the implementation phase of the Main Streets initiative, The City is developing a streetscape master plan for 9 Avenue S.E. to identify a streetscape plan for Inglewood's that reflects its heritage and builds on the values of the community. This period of engagement runs until May 1 and will be collecting feedback related to:

  • Gateways
  • Green space
  • History
  • Interaction
  • Parking
  • Safety
  • Storefront access
  • Sidewalks

Feedback can also be provided to The City at our kiosk in front of Jack Long Park beside the Alexandra Centre or online: at engage.calgary.ca/InglewoodRamsay

Media are also invited to attend the 12 Street S.E. Bridge Farewell Celebration this Saturday, April 22 from 1-3pm. Join your neighbours on the south side of the bridge for snacks and games, and share your memories of the old bridge. The first 150 to arrive will enjoy free Spolumbo’s sausages! (Note: this a community event to celebrate the bridge – the bridge won’t actually be removed until next month).
