Media Availability: Partners in Water Safety remind Calgarians of risks on lakes and still bodies of water

The City of Calgary invite media to join Partners in Water Safety—a collaboration of the Calgary Fire Department (CFD), Calgary Police Services (CPS) and Community Standards—as they demonstrate water safety and a CFD Aquatic Team rescue at Lake Chaparral, to remind Calgarians of the risks associated with recreational use of lakes and still bodies of water.

Often regarded as low-risk compared to fast-moving rivers, Calgary community lakes and still bodies of water can pose a serious threat to recreational users.

WHAT: Partners in Water Safety host water safety event to illustrate dangers in lakes and still
           bodies of water. CFD will perform a mannequin rescue demonstration (rain or shine).

TIME: 1:00 p.m.

WHERE: Lake Chaparral  
              225 Chaparral Drive S.E.
             (In the event of rain, the availability will be held inside the lake recreation centre)

Spokespeople will be available for interview following the introductory address.
