Media availability: Nomination Day is Monday, Sept. 18 for the 2017 General Election

 

 

 

 

A media availability with Paul Denys, Manager, Elections & Census will take place at 8:30 a.m. outside the south doors of Council Chamber to answer questions about Nomination Day and the Election process.

On Monday, September 18, candidates will file their completed nomination papers and deposit if they wish to run in the October 16 Municipal Election.

Nomination papers must be filed with the Returning Officer in Council Chamber at City Hall between 9 a.m. and 12:00 (noon).

The media are allowed inside Council Chambers, while nomination papers are being filed. Video and still photography is permitted inside Council Chambers, but no interviews will be allowed. Candidates will be entering via the south entrance and directed out the north exit into the Atrium where media can conduct interviews.

A list of unofficial candidates will be released on September 18 after 2 p.m. via a news release and posted on electionscalgary.ca.

The candidate list will be official after noon on September 19, as candidates have 24 hours to withdraw. Names of official candidates will be posted online at electionscalgary.ca.

Candidate profiles will be available online in the afternoon of September 19 at electionscalgary.ca.
