Media Availability: New Year’s Eve 2017 – Official kickoff to Canada 150

Media are invited to a special media launch on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. to learn more about The City of Calgary’s New Year’s Eve celebrations that will kick off a year-long celebration of Canada 150, our country’s 150^th anniversary of confederation.

On December 31, 2016, Calgary officially kicks off the sesquicentennial year with a spectacular New Year’s Eve for all Southern Albertans and visitors to enjoy. Activities indoors and outdoors at the Municipal building and Olympic Plaza begin at 7 p.m. and carry through to midnight, in both official languages. Attendees can get their photo taken at the Canada 150 sculpture and see their image on the big screen during the stage show.

         Performance/demos from Eve Hell and the Razors and Brisebois the moose.
         There is also an opportunity to get images of the Canada 150 sculpture that will travel to
         various events and iconic locations in Calgary throughout 2017.

When: Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016
           10:00 a.m. – Introduction
           10:05 a.m. – Mayor Nenshi
           10:15 a.m. – Performances
           10:20 a.m. – Opportunity for one-on-one interviews

Where: Municipal Building Atrium (next to the information booth)
            Spokespeople will be available for interviews at this location until 10:30 a.m.

Disponibilité de la Presse : Veille du Jour de l’An 2017 – Lancement officiel de Canada 150

La Presse est invitée à un lancement médiatique spécial le mercredi 14 décembre à 10h, pour en savoir plus sur les fêtes du Réveillon du Jour de l’An de Calgary qui donneront le coup d’envoi d’une année entière de célébrations pour Canada 150, le 150^e anniversaire de la confédération.

Le 31 décembre 2016, Calgary donne le coup d’envoi officiel du cent cinquantième anniversaire avec un Réveillon du Jour de l’An spectaculaire qui sera offert à tous les Albertains du Sud et visiteurs. Les activités à l’intérieur comme à l’extérieur et dans les deux langues officielles, débutent à 19h et continuent jusqu’à minuit, au Bâtiment Municipal et sur la Place Olympique. Les participants peuvent se faire prendre en photo devant la sculpture de Canada 150 et voir leur image apparaitre sur l’écran géant pendant le spectacle.
