Media Availability: Green carts rolling out soon to Calgarians
Media are invited to a photo and interview opportunity to announce the green cart roll out and start of collection dates. The Green Cart program will help Calgary turn over 85 million kilograms of food and yard waste into nutrient-rich compost each year, rather than burying it in the landfill.

10:45 a.m. photo/video opportunity of the active face of the landfill.
Where: The Green Cart Composting facility (Shepard Landfill) South of 114 Ave. at 68 St. SE. Signs will be posted. Please refer to attached map for directions.
Important Safety Information
The Green Cart composting facility is an active construction site. As such, two things are required:
- Long sleeves are required on site.
- Steel-toed boots are required only for those getting photos/video of the active face of the landfill.
This is an outdoor event (rain or shine). Dress according to weather conditions.
There is limited access for photos or video at the composting facility because it is an active construction site.
