Media Availability: Great Plains Recreation Facility opening

Media are invited to attend the grand opening of the Great Plains Recreation Facility on Saturday, November 26 at 1 p.m. The grand opening is a celebration of community and sport and follows the official “handing over of the keys” that took place in September where The City announced Canlan Ice Sports as the facility operator.

The grand opening is intended to recognize the significant involvement of sport and community stakeholders in helping realize our shared vision of an active, healthy Calgary. Against the backdrop of a ringette tournament, Canlan Ice Sports welcomes the amateur ice sport community to enjoy this new facility in Calgary’s southeast. Canlan is a leader in ice sports facility operations and shares The City’s commitment to growing amateur sport through quality experiences for athletes and fans.

Funded in part by the Government of Alberta Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI), this work is part of The City’s commitment to provide great public spaces where Calgarians can connect and be active.
