Media Availability: City PARK(ing) Day pilot event explores urban landscape use
Media are invited to attend a pilot pop-up event in Inglewood to celebrate PARK(ing) Day, an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary spaces that can be used and explored by the public. The pilot will be used to examine how pop-up spaces can be used to enhance the public realm, in turn helping make our communities more vibrant and creative.
Calgary’s PARK(ing) Day will include installations from The City of Calgary Main Streets initiative, as well as bioi, ground3 landscape architects, Esker Foundation, O2 Planning + Design and Open Streets Calgary.
When: Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, noon – 6 p.m.
Where: Site A: Six spots on 9 Ave. SE between 11 and 12 Streets SE
Site B: Two spots on 10 St. SE near 9 Ave.
Note: This event has no formal agenda but Urban Strategy Lead, Carlie Ferguson will be available for one-on-one interviews at Site A from noon - 1 p.m. There will also be photo opportunities as citizens attend the event and explore installations from participating groups.
