Media Advisory: Vote Day
Vote 2018 will take place on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Voters must vote at their designated voting station on Vote Day. Voting stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. We expect voting stations to be busy so we encourage voters to arrive early. Voters are reminded to bring authorized ID with them and can search their residential (home) address to find their designated voting station on vote2018.calgary.ca. As campaigning is not permitted at voting stations voters are also reminded not to wear Olympic gear to voting stations.
Voter Turnout Numbers
On Tuesday, November 13 voter turnout numbers will be provided through media advisories at approximately:
- 10:00 a.m.
- 2:00 p.m.
- 6:00 p.m.
The final turnout for the 2018 Advance Vote was 54,442 (including 8582 mail-in ballots). The final 2017 Advance Vote turnout was 74,965 and the 2013 Advance Vote turnout was 22,410.
Vote Day Media Availabilities
The Elections Calgary team will be focused on administration of the election on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 to ensure Calgarians have the opportunity to cast their ballots. We cannot guarantee any additional interviews on Vote Day, but should any issues arise, additional media availabilities may be scheduled
Voting Station Photo Opportunity
What: Photo Opportunity at a Voting station. This will be the only opportunity to take photos inside of a voting station. All other opportunities will be from outside of the voting station.

Media Availability

What: Media availability to answer questions.
When: 2:00 p.m.

Results Media Availability
A media availability will be held to announce Vote 2018 results. Please watch the City of Calgary’s twitter @cityofcalgary on Vote night as we will advise 15 minutes before the results are released.
Unlike previous years, results will be delivered in a single push. There will be no ongoing results provided throughout the evening. Unofficial vote results will be available when the vote count is completed on the evening of Vote Day, Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Vote 2018 results will be available at calgary.ca/vote2018. Official Vote 2018 results will be available on Friday, November 16, 2018 by 3 p.m.
