Media Advisory: Official opening of the new Trans Canada Highway and Bowfort Road N.W. Interchange

The media are invited to a special event on Thursday, August 31 from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. to celebrate the official opening of the new Trans Canada Highway (TCH) and Bowfort Road N.W. Interchange.

The project includes a new six-lane roadway for 16 Avenue N.W./TCH beneath a new overpass/bridge at Bowfort Road, and roadway improvements along Bowfort Road, 83 Street N.W. and Canada Olympic Drive. The interchange replaces the previous intersection which was not capable of handling the traffic volumes generated by large scale events at Winsport/Canada Olympic Park, nor the 60,000 vehicles that passed through the area every day.

The program will begin at 10 a.m. and will involve Mayor Naheed Nenshi, Ward 1 Councillor Ward Sutherland, Calgary-North West MLA Sandra Jansen, and Barry Heck, President & CEO of Winsport.

Where: On Bowridge Crescent N.W., adjacent to the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel & Suites (8220 Bowridge Crescent N.W.). Street parking is available in the area; however, please refrain from parking on the premises of retail businesses. Look for the event tent on Bowridge Crescent. Map attached.
