Residing in Calgary Alberta, Wayne and his wife Laura are proud parents of three daughters and grandparents to three grandsons. The loss of their youngest daughter, 17-year-old Amy, in 1999 to an impaired driver, led to Wayne and Laura’s involvement with MADD Canada. They share a commitment to MADD Canada’s goal of stopping impaired driving and are actively involved in the Calgary Chapter.

Wayne is retired from the Calgary Board of Education, where he served as Coordinator of Training & Staff Development. A graduate of Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario, Wayne has been utilizing his passion for training and helping people to achieve their highest potential for over 35 years.

Serving as Calgary Fire Chief since January 2 015, Steve Dongworth has more than 40 years’ experience in municipal fire and emergency services.

Originally from Plymouth, England, both Dongworth’s parents served in the Royal Navy with his father serving for 27 years and reaching the rank of Fleet Chief, the highest non-commissioned rank at that time. Dongworth joined the fire service in the United Kingdom in June 1976 and reached the rank of Station Commander. During this time, he became a graduate of the Institute of Fire Engineers. At the end of 1991, he immigrated to Canada with his family.

Dongworth has been a member of the Calgary Fire Department Honour Guard and has actively represented the Calgary Fire Department both nationally and internationally for the past 20 years.
