Media Advisory: City of Calgary Earth Hour Celebration

Calgary – In celebration of Earth Hour, The City of Calgary will host Calgary Unplugged, a free, family-friendly lights out event at Confluence Plaza on St. Patrick’s Island on Saturday, March 19 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The event features bike-powered music and lights, kids’ nature games and an opportunity to take part in an LED lantern and drum parade. Free hot chocolate will also be served in compostable cups to the first 300 event-goers.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY:

What: Media will have photo opportunities starting at 8:00 p.m. as citizens take part in an LED lantern and drum procession while others pedal bikes to power twinkling lights overhead.

When: Saturday, March 19, 2016, 8:00 p.m.

Where: Confluence Plaza at the southeast end of St. Patrick’s Island, near the tents and ‘welcome’ table.

NOTE: THERE IS NO ACCESS FROM MEMORIAL DRIVE TO ZOO ROAD DUE TO THE CALGARY ZOO FLOOD MITIGATION PROJECT.
