Media Advisory: Canada Day celebrations in Calgary

To create a memorable celebration of Canada’s 151^st birthday, The City has worked closely with our community partners to bring Calgarians lots of things to see and do across downtown, from Fort Calgary to Prince’s Island Park and everywhere in between. Fun, family-friendly and free events filled with music, dance, art and culture begin at 9 a.m. on July 1.

Media are invited to find out what Calgarians can look forward to for 2018 Canada Day celebrations.

Sarah Iley and Teresa Byrne from Arts & Culture at The City of Calgary will talk about what’s in store this year for Canada Day celebrations, and let you in on a special guest that will lead this year’s first ever One City, One Voice community sing-a-long.

We will have examples of entertainment and attractions that Calgarians can expect to see at one of the many sites that will be activated from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on July 1^st. Media demonstrations include:

• Indigenous dancers from the Iniikokaan Centre at Bow Valley College

• Singers from Revv52, the much-loved, Calgary-based performance ensemble
