Media Advisory: 50th Annual Pathway and River Cleanup
On Sunday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to noon over 2,900 registered volunteers will be picking up garbage in city parks and along nearly 200 kilometres of pathways and river banks. The Pathway and River Cleanup is held each year to remove litter that has accumulated over the winter.
Media are invited to interview a City of Calgary spokesperson, volunteer group leader and youth volunteers.

When: Sunday, May 7, 10 - 10:30 a.m.
Where: 200 Memorial Drive N.W. - Calgary Parking Authority lot #59 (east of the Calgary Curling Club, north side of Memorial Drive).
This is a paid lot however there is an exemption for media on this day from 9 a.m. – noon. If you park your vehicle here, please provide your license plate number to The City of Calgary on-site media contact to ensure you are not charged for parking or issued a ticket.
Photo/Video Opportunity: Following the interviews, media are invited to join The City of Calgary youth volunteers and Crescent Heights Community Association volunteer group as they clean up along the Bow River Pathway. Media are also welcome to take b-roll footage at the Mayland designated dump site located at 111 17 St. S.E.
NOTE: There will be no formal program. The spokespeople noted above will be available for one-on-one interviews during the time specified. Please note interview requests outside the media availability timeframe cannot be accommodated. A City of Calgary blog post will be issued on Monday, May 8 summarizing the event and detailing some of the unique finds.
In case of extreme weather (i.e. snow-covered ground conditions or high water levels), the event will be postponed to Sunday, May 28 and an updated media advisory will be issued.
