Media Advisory- Calgary Police Commission Hosts 2019 Community Policing Awards

CALGARY- The Calgary Police Commission is hosting its annual community policing awards on Thursday, June 20, where Commission Chair Brian Thiessen and Councillor Jyoti Gondek will hand out seven awards to 16 Calgarians whose extraordinary efforts are making our city a safer place.

The event includes a roundtable discussion about community policing with more than 400 guests representing community associations, diversity groups, the City of Calgary, and the Calgary Police Service. The Commission incorporates this feedback into its oversight role to ensure policing in Calgary reflects the priorities and concerns of the community.

The event is sponsored by Bennett Jones, Field Law, PwC and Volker Stevin, as well as individual donations from Calgary Police Commissioner Kathy Bolton and Councillors Sutherland, Gondek, Davison, Farkas, Demong and Keating.
