Media Advisory - Additional testing for release of Civic Election Results

The City of Calgary is offering an additional live test of the two electronic election results systems on Monday, Oct. 2, 2017.

On Election night, Monday, October 16, 2017, media will be able to access election results electronically via a web page (http://election.calgary.ca) and an ftp site.

Testing of release of Civic Election Results The test will run from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. (MST) on Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, allowing media outlets time to test their internal programming with election data. During this time period, both sites will contain the actual candidate names along with no results. After the test period, the results will be removed. NOTE: At approximately 12 noon, access will be completely cut off to the website and ftp server. Web Page A Web page will provide results in html format. The page will be automatically updated every 90 seconds to ensure the results are current. The Web address will be http://election.calgary.ca, which is password protected.

NOTE: The website will only be password protected during this testing. On Election Day the website will not be password protected.

Data File Results
Media outlets that desire raw text results can access an election ftp site at ftp://election_ftp.calgary.ca.
The data file used during testing and on election night will be called calgary_election_results_2017 (no file extension).
