Missing Children Society of Canada receives donation from Calgary Police Rodeo Association

The Calgary Police Service and the Calgary Police Rodeo Association continue to support the efforts of the Missing Children Society of Canada (MCSC). On Thursday, June 15, 2017, the Calgary Police Rodeo Association will present a cheque to MCSC in support of CodeSearch, a powerful digital volunteer program that protects children.

Missing Children Society of Canada’s (MCSC) rapid-response network is the first of its kind in Canada that engages the corporate community in supporting efforts of MCSC and the Calgary Police Service in the search of missing or abducted children. The CodeSearch App directly engages partner organizations to be the eyes and ears in their communities, if a child is reported missing. MCSC is able to quickly alert partners of important and time-sensitive case information and request their help to find that child and ensure their safety.

As information on a missing child can be geo-targeted it turns each employee into potential life-savers preventing tragedies and reuniting families. Corporations in Calgary, including the Calgary Police Service, WestJet and ENMAX, have taken a leadership role in implementing the program throughout their organizations and encourage all organizations to become CodeSearch partners.

“We’re thrilled to be able to support this worthwhile cause,” said Det. Mike Cavilla, President of the Calgary Police Rodeo Association. “Getting information out to a wide network of individuals as quickly as possible through CodeSearch helps increase the chances of finding a missing child alive.”

Over the past 12 years, the Rodeo has donated more than $100,000 to the Missing Children Society of Canada.

“We appreciate the long-standing contributions of the Calgary Police Rodeo Association,” said Amanda Pick, Chief Executive Officer, Missing Children Society of Canada. “The support we receive plays an important role in ensuring we can continue to provide this service.”
