Massage therapist charged with sexual assault

Following an investigation by the Calgary Police Service Sexual Assault Investigative Unit, we have now charged a massage therapist after it is believed he sexually assaulted two clients earlier this year.

The man was believed to be operating a massage therapy business out of his residence located in northeast Calgary when police received two separate reports from victims who were allegedly sexually assaulted while receiving massages.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, the first victim attended the massage therapist’s home business located in the 0 to 100 block of Harvest Rose Circle N.E., for a massage, and was subsequently sexually assaulted. The victim left the residence and later reported the incident to police.

A second victim reported attending the same residence for a massage on Friday, May 17, 2024, and was also sexually assaulted during their massage appointment.

As a result, Shi Jun (John) ZHANG, 65, of Calgary, is charged with two counts of sexual assault.

ZHANG operates under the business name John Clinic, and detectives have engaged with the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada and The City of Calgary Business Licencing and Permits as part of the investigation.

He will next appear in court on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024.
