Man in custody following death of woman at motel

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating the death of a woman at a northwest motel.

At approximately 7:10 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, police were called to the Red Carpet Inn, located at 4635 16 Ave. N.W., for reports of a suspicious death. Upon arrival, a woman was found deceased in one of the rooms.

A man is currently in custody and it is believed that the victim and the suspect are known to each other. The incident is not believed to be random.

An autopsy will take place on Monday, Dec. 24, 2018.
