Man charged with weapon and drug crimes

We have charged a man in relation to several weapon and drug offenses.

In September, police began investigating a man who they believed was selling drugs in the East Village near the 0-100 block of Dermot Baldwin Way S.E..

During the investigation, officers observed the suspect driving a Mercedes Benz to and from a storage facility located in the 1500 block of 17 Avenue S.E. several times, and further engaging in what appeared to be drug trafficking. Police confirmed the man rented a unit at the facility and frequently accessed it for short periods of time.

We obtained warrants for the storage unit, the Mercedes Benz, and the man’s residence, located in the East Village.

The search of the storage unit resulted in the seizure of:

·        A loaded handgun

·        1.3 kilograms of cocaine

·        32.6 grams of fentanyl

·        141.4 grams of methamphetamine

·        70.9 grams of suspected MDMA

·        357 pills suspected to be fentanyl

·        5.9 kilograms of buffering agent (filler added to narcotics)

·        Drug packaging materials

·        A digital scale

The search of the residence resulted in the seizure of:

              ·        Two cell phones

              ·        $885 cash

              ·        Cash/currency counter

              ·        Jewelry believed to be the proceeds of crime, valued at approximately $300,000

              ·        Rolex authentication paperwork

              ·        Suspected MDMA and cocaine

The search of the Mercedes Benz resulted in the seizure of:

               ·        One cell phone

               ·        Ray-Ban Meta glasses

               ·        Rolex authentication paperwork

As a result, Co Vi HUYNH, 42, of Calgary, has been charged with:

·        Three counts possession for the purpose of trafficking

·        One count of possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000

·        One count of careless storage of a firearm

·        One count of possession of a firearm without a licence

·        One count of possession of a loaded prohibited firearm without certificate

HUYNH’S next court appearance is scheduled for January 23, 2026. 

“We continue to crack down on drug traffickers who prey on vulnerable Calgarians,” said Inspector Jason Bobrowich of the Calgary Police Service. “Every time we get weapons, drugs, and drug traffickers off the streets, Calgary is safer.”
