Man charged with voyeurism after two store incidents

We have charged a man with voyeurism after it is believed he intentionally filmed one woman and two girls without their consent at two Calgary stores.

On Monday, June 30, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a woman and her daughter were shopping at Sport Chek, located at 6455 Macleod Trail S.W. After the daughter entered a fitting room, it is believed an unknown man slid a cellphone under the door. The girl noticed the device pointing upward toward her and told her mother, who alerted store staff. The incident was then reported to the police.

A second incident occurred on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at approximately 3:40 p.m., when a woman and her friend were shopping at Winners, located at 5235 Northland Drive N.W. The woman took clothing into the fitting room area at the back of the store and noticed a man standing nearby. After entering a fitting room, she saw a cellphone on the floor pointed towards her. She opened the door and observed the man fleeing the store. The woman and her friend then reported the incident to police.

Investigators spoke to witnesses and reviewed CCTV footage from each store. While reviewing the footage from Winner’s, the suspect appeared to be following and filming a young girl, for several minutes.

The suspect was subsequently identified, and on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, a search warrant was executed at his residence. The search resulted in the seizure of seven cellphones, a hard drive and other electronic devices.

As a result, Benjamin Ryan TURCOTTE, 25, of Airdrie, is charged with three counts of voyeurism.

TURCOTTE is scheduled to next appear in court on Monday, Dec. 8, 2025.
