Man charged with theft of several guns from local business
We have charged a man with 28 offences after it is believed he broke into a local business and stole 17 firearms worth more than $26,000 over the weekend.
On Saturday, June 28, 2025, at approximately 5 a.m., an unknown man broke into the Calgary Shooting Centre, located at 7130 Fisher Rd. S.E.
Once inside, the suspect broke into a display case and stole 17 firearms before fleeing the scene in a stolen, 2015 black Toyota 4 Runner. The stolen vehicle was later recovered and seized by police.
Our officers began an investigation and were able to quickly identify a suspect.
Two search warrants were executed in relation to the incident. One at a residence located in the 400 block of Rundleson Place N.E., and another at the Airport Traveller’s Inn located at 1808 19 St. N.E.
As a result of the investigation to date, our officers have recovered six of the stolen firearms, and on Monday, June 30, 2025, our officers arrested and subsequently charged Jason Allan WILKENING, 45, of Calgary, with:
· One count of break and enter to steal firearms
· Six counts of possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order
· One count of proceeds of crime over $5,000
· One count of possession of stolen property over $5,000
· Two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000
· One count of being disguised with intent
· Two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
· One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
· One count of possession of a loaded, prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
· One count of possession of a weapon obtained by crime
· One count of carrying a concealed weapon
· 10 counts of failure to comply with a release order
