Man charged with arson

We have arrested a man in connection with two recent, suspected arsons in Calgary.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, a fire ignited in the rear alley of a business located in the 700 block of 10 Avenue S.W. Although the fire was extinguished, the building sustained significant damage.

Another fire occurred shortly before 5:00 a.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025. It’s believed the flames originated in the back alley entrance of a building, damaging two neighbouring businesses.

Police determined the two incidents were connected and the fires were intentionally set.  While the fires appear to be targeted, a motive remains unknown.

On Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, we arrested Aldin CROWCHILD, 34, of Calgary.

He is charged with:

·        Two counts of arson - damage to property

·        Two counts of breaching a probation order

CROWCHILD is currently in custody and is scheduled to be in court on Jan. 8, 2026.
