Man charged in dangerous driving incident

A Calgary man is facing multiple charges in relation to driving a truck with a stolen license plate dangerously in the city’s southeast last weekend.

On Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, at approximately 11 p.m., while conducting proactive patrols, police observed the suspect operating a 2010 Ford F350 truck in the city's southeast, south of the Hotchkiss area, with the vehicle driving in the wrong direction. Police attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect did not stop.

While the suspect was not speeding, police observed the suspect driving in the wrong direction on several roads. Due to the unsafe driving behaviour, a decision was made to engage HAWCS to safely monitor the vehicle without endangering the public.

The driver was eventually seen entering a residence in the 16700 block of 104 Street S.E. The suspect ultimately surrendered to police and was arrested. A search warrant was executed at the residence and three pellet guns were seized.

As a result, Cody Scott Lloyd MANDER, 37, is charged with one count each of flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property under $5,000, driving while unauthorized, driving while uninsured and displaying a license plate improperly.

MANDER is scheduled to next appear in court on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026. 

“We want to ensure everyone gets home safe every day, especially during the holiday season,” says Staff Sergeant Geoff Gawlinski of the Calgary Police Service General Investigations Unit. “This individual showed a complete lack of care for public safety by driving the wrong way on Calgary roads. Thanks to the officers who were proactively patrolling the area, along with the help of our Canine, Tactical and Air Support Units, and several other district and investigative areas across the Service, we were able to safely apprehend the suspect and hold him accountable for his actions.”

The Calgary Police Service encourages people to report suspicious driving activity to police immediately.
