Man charged in relation to Pineridge suspicious death

A man has been charged in relation to a suspicious death – now deemed a homicide – that occurred last weekend in the community of Pineridge.

At approximately 8:50 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, police were called to a home in the 100 block of Pinehill Road N.E., for reports of a deceased person in the residence.

Following an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, we can share that the victim is 50-year-old Deborah Ann MITCHELL.

MITCHELL’s son, 29-year-old Levi Romeo MITCHELL has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to her death. He will next appear in court on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021.

“November is Family Violence Prevention Month and this tragic situation illustrates why it so important to reach out for help before relationships become violent,” said Homicide Staff Sergeant Colin Chisholm. “We know that domestic violence can occur in any household and we want to encourage Calgarians to reach out to be connected to the many resources available in our city.”
