Man charged in October 2017 homicide

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has charged a man with second-degree murder in relation to a homicide that occurred in October 2017.

At approximately 5:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, emergency crews were called to the 4600 block of Bowness Road N.W., for reports of a man in medical distress. When officers arrived they found a man in his 40s who had sustained critical injuries as the result of a shooting. He died a short time later in hospital.

The victim was identified by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner as Arnold KERFONT, 44, of Calgary.

On Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, a suspect was arrested and charged in connection with this homicide.

Armando Pepino BACCARI, 39, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder. BACCARI will next appear in court on Monday, Feb. 5, 2017.
