Man charged in drugstore robbery

We have charged a man with several offences in relation to a robbery that occurred at a drugstore in the city’s southwest earlier this month.

On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., an unknown man entered the Calgary Drug Mart located at 10 Richard Way S.W. Once inside, the man demanded prescription drugs while threatening an employee with a knife.

The man left the drugstore with an unknown amount of prescription drugs before fleeing the parking lot in a grey Dodge Durango.

Our Robbery Unit launched an investigation and were subsequently able to identify the suspect.

Our officers executed a search warrant on the Dodge Durango and at a residence located in the 3200 block of 32A Avenue S.E., where two knives and clothing believed to be worn during the robbery were seized.

As a result, Marbub PURBUB, 19, of Calgary, is charged with:

·         Robbery

·         Possession of a weapon

·         Unlawful confinement

·         Intimidation

·         Theft under $5,000

He will next appear in court on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
