Man charged in bank robbery

Police have charged a man following a bank robbery in the city’s northeast.

Around 12:15 pm, on Sept. 13, 2019, a man with a covered face entered the Scotiabank located at 500 Country Hills Boulevard N.E. He walked behind the tellers’ counter and demanded they give him money while indicating that he had a weapon in his pocket.

The bank staff complied and the man fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured in the incident.

Police were able to locate the suspect quickly through their investigation and he was arrested a short time later at a residence in the 1-100 block of Martinglen Way N.E.

Ahmed Mohammad Farah Abdulle, 20, of Calgary, is charged with three counts of robbery and one count of committing an offence while being disguised.
