Man charged in apartment building stabbing

A man has been charged in the stabbing of a man and a woman at a downtown apartment building.

At approximately 9:35 a.m., on Monday, June 17, 2024, police were called to an apartment building located in the 600 block of 13 Avenue S.W., for reports that a couple had been stabbed. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival and the victims were taken to hospital in stable condition.

Investigators believe the suspect is a resident in the building and began a verbal altercation with the couple, who reside in the building, before pulling out a knife and wounding the man. When the woman attempted to intervene, she was also stabbed.

Around 2:30 p.m., on Monday, June 17, 2024, the man was located in northeast Calgary and safely taken into custody.

Ahmed Farah ABDULLE, 25, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and remains in custody.
