Man charged in 2018 double homicide

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has charged a man in relation to the April 2018 murder of two people in Evanston.

At approximately 3:10 p.m., on April 20, 2018, emergency responders were called to the area of the 0-100 block of Evanscrest Mews N.W., for reports of gunshots. A man was seen running from the scene and two men were found deceased in a vehicle. The deceased were later identified as Joshua Brendan BAMFO, 25, and Mahad Abdiraham AINANSHE, 23. A man was arrested on April 22, 2018, and ultimately released without charge.

A 14-month investigation ensued and on Friday, June 14, 2019, Christopher NAIDU, 29, of Calgary, was arrested and subsequently charged on Saturday, June 15, 2019, with two counts of first-degree murder. He will next appear in court on Monday, June 17, 2019. NAIDU is the same man who was arrested in April 2018.

Police believe these were targeted homicides and that the victims and the accused knew each other. Investigators would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance in this investigation.
